The Atlantic Cup Kicks off in 2013

The latest information for The Atlantic Cup 2013

Following the success of last year’s tournament, Stefan Schwarz and Sporting Events Limited are pleased to announce The Atlantic Cup 2013. This year three European Clubs will be competing at the Estádio Algarve, Portugal.

Two of the clubs taking part will be competing for the first time. One are champions of their domestic league and the other is a permanent fixture in the Danish Superliga, whose current manager, Viggo Jensen, was the assistant coach of Denmark when they won the European championship in Sweden in 1992.

We feel that the individual training facilities that the clubs will experience, together with the Portuguese hotels and hospitality mixed with Sporting Events’ expertise in this field, will make for an exciting tournament.

The teams competing this year will be:

Rapid Vienna (Austrian Bundesliga)

Silkeborg IF (Danish Superliga)

KF Skenderbeu (champions of the Albanian Superliga)

Competing in friendlies only:

SC Farense (Portugal)

SV Mattersberg (Austria)

The Atlantic Cup 2013 will be a round robin tournament. Each club will play two group games and one friendly. Points from all three games will count for the three clubs competing. The team that accumulates the most points from their three games will win The Atlantic Cup.

The Tournament will open on the 24th January, with a 17.00 hrs GMT group game kick off between KF Skenderbeu and Silkeborg IF and a 20.00 hrs GMT friendly for Rapid Vienna V SC Farense.

There will be two games on the 28th January, a friendly at 17.00 hrs GMT for Silkeborg IF V SV Mattersberg and at 20.00 hrs GMT a group game between Rapid Vienna and KF Skenderbeu.

The last games will be played on the 1st February. Kicking off at 17.00 hrs GMT with a friendly for KF Skenderbeu V SV Mattersberg and at 20.00 hrs GMT will be a group game between Rapid Vienna and Silkeborg IF.

Following the last game on the 1st February, we will present the trophy to the winner of The Atlantic Cup 2013.

We would like to thank the Presidents of Faro and Loulé for helping us arrange this tournament for the third year, as without their continued support this Tournament could not have taken place.
